How Many Tests Must a Flame-Resistant (FR) Garment Pass Before It Can Be Worn by Workers?

You might not realize that what appears to be an ordinary "fire-resistant workwear" actually undergoes numerous technical evaluations and compliance verifications from yarn to finished garment.

1. Non-melting Property

Ordinary synthetic fibers will melt and drip when exposed to fire, potentially exacerbating burns. Therefore, qualified FR garments mostly use cotton-based fabrics or inherently flame-resistant fibers (such as aramid), ensuring that they only char rather than drip during combustion.

2. Self-extinguishing Capability

National standards and international regulations (like EN ISO 11612, NFPA 2112) require that after the removal of the open flame, the after-flame and smoldering times typically do not exceed 2 seconds.

3. Durability

Some FR garments lose their effectiveness after just a few washes, whereas industrial environments often demand that the garments remain compliant even after more than 50 washes. This poses a challenge for the durability of flame retardants.

Xinxiang Chuangwei Garments Co., Ltd. mainly employs post-finishing flame-retardant technology in production, chemically treating pure cotton or CVC (chief value cotton) fabrics. This method is moderately priced and suitable for most industrial protective scenarios. The fabric weight ranges from 150g/m² to 450g/m², allowing customers to choose based on the intensity of their work.

The garment-making process is equally crucial: cuffs, collars, and pant legs are designed with a "three-tight" style; buttons are made of insulating materials; pockets have covers to prevent sparks from accumulating. All sewing uses professional industrial equipment to avoid compromising overall protection due to loose stitching.

More importantly, every batch of export products comes with a third-party testing report, clearly indicating which standard clauses they comply with. The company does not claim "permanent flame resistance," but honestly informs customers that flame-resistant performance will gradually diminish with use and washing, necessitating regular inspections and replacements.

In the eyes of Xinxiang Chuangwei Garments, protective clothing is not merely a marketing tool but a carrier of responsibility. Their goal is simple: to ensure that every garment leaving the factory passes rigorous standards and earns the trust of its wearers.
